When I was in Paris I could finally see the "Space Invaders" street artworks that decorate the city. It's like a graffiti, but it's made of tiles that form a mosaic with characters from the vintage videogame Space Invaders. There are lots of mosaics all around Paris, and also in more than 30 cities from all over the world, such as London, Geneva, Rome, Berlin, Barcelona, Amsterdam, Bilbao, Los Angeles, New York, San Diego, Toronto, Bangkok, Tokyo, Katmandu, Melbourne, Mombasa... I think it's a great way of being creative.
I first knew about this curious action on the fictional documentary by Banksy (another street artist I love) called "Exit through the gift shop", a fantastic film that makes it impossible to distinguish between reality and fiction. Have you seen it? If not, I really recommend you do. In the documentary they show how the artist, named "Invader", places some of his creations.
You can check the website of the Space Invaders in Paris, where they have a map of the city pointing to every Space Invader. There's also a map for almost every city in which you can find these funny aliens. They sell the Paris map at Colette for €4, and a sticker album with photos of all of them.
Here you have some pictures of the Invaders I found in Paris.
