I'm not going to talk about the eating habits of the models, or if we have to blame the agencies, the brands or the designers for promoting a too skinny bodyshape. There are infinite discussions about it and it seems that things aren't going to change.
The images from the ad campaigns and the magazines are so photoshopped that we cannot distinguish reality from imagination. Well, most of us can tell when it's a real photo or if it has been edited. Airbrushing, erasing flaws... now it seems that it is an obvious thing they have to do.
When I saw this photo from the Dolce & Gabbana Spring/Summer 2010 fashion show I realised that things had gone too far. Maybe it is just a bad photo, but these models don't look healthy at all. Why do they want them to look like that? I don't get it.

No voy a hablar de los hábitos alimenticios de las modelos, o si tenemos que echarles la culpa a las agencias, a las marcas o a los diseñadores por fomentar la imagen una mujer tan delgada. Ya hay suficientes debates sobre ello y por ahora las cosas no van a cambiar por lo que parece.
Las imágenes de las campañas y de las revistas están tan retocadas que ya casi no se puede distinguir lo real de lo imaginario. Bueno, la mayoría de nosotros sabemos cuándo una foto es real y cuándo ha pasado por el photoshop. Airbrushing, borrar imperfecciones... ahora parece que es lo que hay que hacer, sin planteárselo.
Cuando vi esta foto del desfile de Dolce & Gabbana Prim/Ver 2010 vi que las cosas habían llegado demasiado lejos. Quizás sea sólo una mala foto, pero estas modelos tienen un aspecto muy poco saludable. No entiendo por qué quieren que tengan esa imagen.

Para mí desde luego no es la mejor imagen. Y no sé cuándo se van a dar cuenta de que ese cuerpo no es bonito.

Estan los diseñadores como Karl Lagerfeld que se niegan rotundamente a diseñar prendas con talla superior a la 38 alegando que las que usen ese tallaje padecen sobrepeso... la verdad es q es un tema demasiado problemático, meterse en materia es incluso peligroso, a mi a veces me parece muy excesiva la presión a las que se les somete. Pero bien es verdad que lo que para una es su aspecto predeterminado por asi decirlo, para otra es extrema delgadez.

ReplyDeleteHombre, aquí parece que se ha juntado que la foto no es muy buena porque estas chicas suelen ser guapas de cara y están muy feas. Es verdad que el tema de la delgadez extrema no es nada bello, al menos para mí. También me parece que la belleza de una persona son muchas cosas.

ReplyDeletelas chicas, las modelos, no creo que la mayoría estén enfermas ni mucho menos, pienso que seguramente sea así su constitución (aunque yo dejase de comer, no tendría medidas "perfectas") al menos en la mayoría de los casos; y si de verdad tienen un problema, se trata de algo personal. lo que más me preocupa es el hecho de que es su imagen con la cual nos bombardean constantemente. y como dices, encima las retocan. nos dan un canon de belleza no sólo enfermizo para la gran parte de los mortales, sino realmente inalcanzable, incluso por ellas. ya no sólo es la cara, sino esas medidas ideales, que no se dan cuenta que de imposibles ya son imperfectas. si hiciéramos una barbie a tamaño real,estaría tan desproporcionada que no podría mantenerse en pie. pero todas las niñas quieren ser como barbie :S

yo estoy delgada como ellas, y alta. I get looks when im walking of "disgust" figure. It hurts, but im still moving forward. I'm healthy, i am naturally thin.

ReplyDeleteA mí las modelos siempre me parecen enfermas, tristes y me dan pena, no sé, dan una imagen que me parece patética porque no es real y nadie se la puede creer. Además son chicas que miden más de 1.70 y sin embargo tienen tallas de una chica de 1.50, ESO NO ES POSIBLE. Nadie me hará creer que midiendo 1.80 se pueden pesar 50 kilos por muy delgada que seas!

I had never realized that models were unhealthily skinny by looking at runaway pictures. Then, I had the opportunity to assist a Dior ready-to-wear show (I live in Paris).
ReplyDeleteIt was so shocking, it was painful to watch. I was so fascinated by their skinniness I did not even watch the clothes properly (and I love watching the design!).
The clothes were so tiny, they looked like they were made for 12 years old. And the models did not even fill them properly !
It was really outrageous to see them as gaunt : most of models were so skinny that the upper part of their thights were LARGER than their butt (it is something you usualy see on starving children). I seriously doubt that any of the girl could have their period...
It did not even make the clothes looked good : when a leather skirt supposed to enhance a butt just hangs on void, it is scary.
Out of the 25 models, I remember that 2 had tiny breast and tiny butt matching their slender figure. And those two looked healthier. All the others were deprived of any kind of volume.
Sorry for the long comment, but I had to tell you my little "trauma". It made me realized how deeply crazy fashion world is getting regarding the weight standards.

ReplyDeleteI agree. There is a huge difference between being naturally thin and being just plain unhealthy. I hope those girls are blessed with the realization that they don't need that, not for careers or anyone else, <3
