Your fashion dream job


When we were kids, we always dreamed of fabulous jobs and professions, from engineers to vets, we wanted to be someone to be recognized. One of my best friends, when she was six, used to say that she wanted to be "a submarine singer", that is, to sing under the water. I think the fact that we had watched "The little mermaid" like ten times had something to do with it. Now I remember that I wanted to be a redheaded mermaid.

But now we are older and we have taken our decissions. Although it is not late to leave everything behind and start a new and totally different profession, we must admit that things are not like we thought they would be.

Just for a moment, think that you are another person. What fashion job would you choose? Imagine you could skip all the difficult stages that you need to fulfill until we reach the top. Imagine that just in a blink you are the most powerful fashion critic, the most beautiful model, the best photographer... It's easy if you try.


Cuando éramos niños, solíamos soñar con los trabajos más fabulosos, desde ingenieros hasta veterinarios, queríamos ser alguien reconocido e importante. Una de mis mejores amigas cuand tenía seis años decía que quería ser "cantante submarina", o sea, cantar bajo el agua. Yo creo que se debió a que habíamos visto "La Sirenita" más de diez veces. Ahora que me acuerdo, yo quería ser una sirena con una larga melena roja.
Pero ahora ya hemos crecido y tomado nuestras decisiones. Aunque nunca es tarde para dar un giro, dejar todo atrás y empezar de nuevo, hay que admitir que las cosas no son como pensábamos.
Sólo por un momento, imagínate que eres otra persona. ¿Qué trabajo de moda elegirías?
Imagínate que pudieras saltarte todas las etapas duras que hay que pasar para llegar a lo más alto. Imagínate que en un parpadeo eres la crítica de moda más poderosa del mundo, la modelo más guapa o el mejor fotógrafo... It's easy if you try.

I think I would choose "Magazine Editor" of a magazine like Vogue Paris. Why? I think it's because it involves all the things I like. I could photograph editorials if I liked (I'm the editor in chief, I can do what I want :D), I could be the stylist of photoshoots, I could write articles, I'd meet fabulous people...

Yo creo que elegiría "Editora de una revista" tipo Vogue Paris. ¿Por qué? Yo creo que es porque engloba todas las cosas que me gustan, podría fotografiar algunas editoriales (soy la editor in chief, puedo hacer lo que quiera :D), podría ser la stylist de las editoriales, podría escribir artículos, conocer a gente genial...

    my vote goes to 'socialite' my reasons are obvious, it seems they're everywhere, with everybody side by side, sometimes a fashion critic here or there, the oscars, frontrows.... apparently without working that hard or...nothing at all???? xx!

    I still dream of a fashion job! as a fashion merchandising student i've been asked countless times what my back up plan is but i'm pretty set on being a buyer/stylist and eventually boutique owner when i "grow up"

    yo quisiera ser todos esos trabajos a la vez, aunque si me obligas me quedo con supermodelo, siempre he soñado en saber qué se siente al entrar en un sitio y que todas las cabezas se giren ( para bien )

    Yo diseñador porque resumiría gran parte de los demás trabajos en uno. Modelo ni tengo el cuerpo ni me gustaría, tiene que ser un aperreo bueno. Y crítico de moda todo el mundo te odiaría.

    Me encantan los posts de este tipo. La verdad es que siempre me haces pensar en cosas divertidas, y eso es estupendo. Me quedo con estilista, porque aunque lo de editora de una revista de moda me encantaría, creo que me podría la presión. Prefiero algo más tranquilo.

    Interesting post. I think a lot of the time we forget what we wanted to be when we were little or we trade it in for something more practical. This was a good reminder to go for what you want :D

    when i was a child i dreamt to be a model or a famous designer.

    i would like to be a hair and make-up stylist just to know how to make-up myself great!

    I agreed that being magazine editor is the gratest fashion job because you can do anything and get everything u want.

    but if a have to choose i would be a socialite....you are a supermodel, a fashion critic, a stylist and you go to all parties!
